Dan Bubb, CEO

Dan Bubb is a seasoned telecommunications executive with over two decades of experience in leading and developing innovative solutions in the industry. As the CEO of Blue Mountain Networks, he has played a pivotal role in expanding fiber networks across the Pacific Northwest, providing underserved communities with high-speed internet access and driving digital transformation in his local communities. He is passionate about leveraging technology to create meaningful change in local communities, particularly in rural and remote areas in Oregon and Washington. His visionary approach and dedication to bridging the digital divide have made him a key figure in the telecommunications landscape.

With a strong background in both technical and strategic leadership, Dan has a proven track record of managing large-scale projects, improving operational efficiencies, and fostering growth through local customer-centric initiatives. His expertise spans across network infrastructure and engineering, technology integration, and business development, making him a dynamic leader in the ever-evolving telecom sector.

Before joining Blue Mountain Networks, Dan was the CEO and Founder of Gorge Networks, which was acquired by Blue Mountain Networks in 2019. Dan is a collaborative and results-oriented professional, committed to driving growth and delivering value to customers, partners, and stakeholders.

When Dan isn’t working, he enjoys many of the sports at his fingertips in the Gorge such as skiing, mt biking, and wind/water sports as well as spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.

Joseph Franell - President

Joseph Franell is the President of Blue Mountain Networks.  The Oregon Business Magazine called Joe, “The Rural Connector” because of his effective leadership in bringing broadband to rural markets in the region.

Joe served as a governor appointed member of the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council (OBAC) representing rural interests in the State for 13 years and served as the chairman of the Council for almost 12 of those years.

Prior to coming to work at BMN, Franell was the Director of Information Technology for the city of Ashland, Oregon, where he was responsible for the Ashland Fiber Network, a municipally owned and operated broadband telecommunications company. During his tenure there, Ashland was selected as one of the Intelligent Communities Forum’s Smart 21 Communities for 2007 and 2008, because of its innovative and visionary use of broadband technologies.

 Joe most recently served as the CEO of Eastern Oregon Telecom (EOT) from 2008 to 2019, one of the Blue Mountain Networks family of businesses. 

In his spare time Joe enjoys working on his small farm, traveling, and photography.

Erik Lundby, CTO

Erik Lundby is a visionary technology leader with over 25 years of telecommunications experience.  Erik got started in this industry while in college when he proposed starting an internet service provider business to the IT company he was working for.  The owners told him, “Ok, if you build it.”

Prior to the creation of Blue Mountain Networks, Erik served as the CTO of Gorge Networks. Erik has a proven track record of driving technical innovation, from his days provisioning dial up service to today when his team is designing 2Gig fiber to the home.

As the CTO of Blue Mountain Networks, Erik is responsible for shaping the company’s technology vision and strategy, leading a team of engineers, and driving innovation. He stays up to date with the latest technological advancements and is committed to using technology to positively impact the world. Erik is grateful his job affords him this opportunity.

Erik believes in volunteerism and investing in the community. As a school board chair, Erik oversaw the launch of Pacific Crest Innovation Academy, the second of its kind in the state of Washington.

When he isn’t working for us, Erik can be found swing-dancing with his wife, doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jeep off-roading and community theater.

Paul Ernst, CFO

Paul Ernst is a strategic operations leader with over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Paul began his career in college, working early morning technical support for a local dial-up and DSL internet provider. He quickly transitioned into an internal IT position after a few months.

 He spent several years advancing through the Installation & Repair chain of command, eventually becoming a team supervisor. Seeking a broader understanding of the business, he transitioned to the Sales team, working as a direct sales agent for a few years before moving into full-project and account management roles.

 Before joining Blue Mountain Networks in 2023, Paul served as the Director of Project Management for BAI Connect, a company formed from the merger of two internet providers, AerioConnect and Bel Air Internet. He oversaw all large-scale Residential & Commercial projects at the company.

 

Paul currently oversees several teams at Blue Mountain Networks, including Installation & Repair, Construction, Business & Residential Sales, and Technical Support. He leverages his extensive industry knowledge to bridge divides and enhance cooperation between departments, ensuring the best fit for every employee.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys fishing, spending time with his family, reading, and exploring the diverse offerings of Oregon.

Giselle Hepker, CFO

Giselle Hepker is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across diverse industries including telecommunications, property management, wholesale distribution, scientific research, and education. She has a strong track record of building and leading finance departments, managing budgeting and forecasting, and implementing process improvements to enhance financial controls and operational efficiency.

 Giselle’s super-power is turning vision into action. She is committed to fostering positive team dynamics and empowering staff to achieve excellence through supportive leadership. She loves to be part of a team that achieves success together. In her current role she oversees finance, accounting, billing, project management, human resources, and regulatory reporting while managing strategic resource allocation and internal controls.

 

Her career began with over a decade in operational leadership and event management roles, overseeing ski resort operations, wedding management, and organizing and leading large-scale choral tours in Romania, South Africa, the US, and Ukraine. She subsequently transitioned to accounting and finance, initially working in non-profit and government grant accounting before advancing to the private sector in accounting, FP&A, and finance leadership positions.

 

Outside of work, she finds joy outdoors, golfing, skiing, and camping, and remains passionate about continuous learning and engaging with others.

The History of Blue Mountain Network

Blue Mountain Networks harnesses the combined operations of Hermiston-based Eastern Oregon Telecom, Hood River-based Gorge Networks and Central Oregon-based Sureline Broadband to accelerate expansion of fiber technology to residential and business customers. We provide high-speed internet, voice and data services to residential and business customers in over 70 communities in Oregon and Washington.

Fiber-optic connectivity is a must-have in today’s world and we believe everyone should have access to the Internet. Blue Mountain Networks is positioned to provide technologically advanced digital infrastructure to our communities- accelerating our fiber expansion will  enable our customers to fully participate in the ever-growing digital economy, work remotely, access telemedicine, earn an online education and more.
